Translation Services for Poland
For Poland documents, we frequently provide certified translations in Polish. Our translations come with a certificate of accuracy. For a Polish register office, the Polish consulate's pages say the translation into Polish must be made by a sworn translator (on the Polish Minister of Justice's list, or authorised in an EU or EEA country) or by a consul.

Poland: one apostille, then the right Polish translation
From the Polish consulate pages for the UK on gov.pl, GOV.UK and the Hague Conference status table, checked on 11 October 2026.
-
The apostille is the only stamp Poland needs
Poland has been a party to the Apostille Convention since 14 August 2005 (Hague Conference status table, last updated 30 June 2026). The Polish consulate's pages for the UK say an apostille from the FCDO Legalisation Office is enough to use a UK document in Poland, and that the consul plays no part in obtaining it; consular legalisation is only for documents from countries outside the Convention.
-
What the apostille confirms
It confirms the signature and the stamp or seal of the official who issued or certified the UK document, which the FCDO checks against its own records. Birth, marriage and death certificates from the General Register Office cannot have an e-Apostille, so they need the paper apostille.
-
Registering a UK birth or marriage in Poland
To have a UK birth or marriage certificate transcribed into Polish civil records through a consulate, you submit the original certificate (for a birth, one showing the parents' forenames and surnames) with a Polish translation made by a sworn translator on the Polish Minister of Justice's list, a sworn translator authorised in an EU or EEA country, or a consul.
-
When a consul certifies the translation
A Polish consul in the UK can also certify a translation between English and Polish. The consulate's page says the translation has to be legible and reliable, but it does not have to be made by a sworn or professional translator.
-
Exchanging a UK driving licence
GOV.UK's Living in Poland guide says that exchanging a UK driving licence for a Polish one may need a sworn translation of the licence and proof of an address in Poland.
