Serbian is written in two alphabets. Article 10 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia places the Serbian language and the Cyrillic script in official use, with other scripts regulated by law, while Latin script remains in everyday use: a birth extract may arrive in Cyrillic while a diploma, an employment contract or a bank statement for the same person is in Latin.

The script your document is written in never changes the price or the turnaround: our Serbian translators read both as native speakers. When we translate into Serbian we ask which script the receiving body expects and deliver in that one, or in both. Names are transliterated consistently to match your passport, and ć, č, đ, š and ž (ћ, ч, ђ, ш, ж in Cyrillic) are reproduced exactly, never flattened to c, s and z.

Serbia is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention; apostilles on Serbian public documents are issued by the basic court (основни суд) where the document was issued. Most UK bodies ask only for the certified translation; if yours wants an apostille too, obtain it in Serbia first and we will translate that page with the document.
